Marion County Glass Act Recycling Project Could Be Statewide Model

According to the “Marion Star,” Angie Carbetta has taken Dumpster diving to new heights. The director for Marion County Recycling and Litter Prevention recently learned that her office’s Glass Act initiative won recognition as a Friend of Glass from The Glass Packaging Institute. Using a $10,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention, and a $5,000 matching grant provided by Ohio Galvanizing Corp. in Marion, Glass Act yields 2.5 tons of mixed glass collected for recycling per week. Carbetta hopes initiatives such as Carbetta’s in conjunction with others will increase significantly the amount of recycled glass.
