“The Nation” reports on 10 ways to help people shrink their carbon footprints, including: use less paper; eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and less meat; rid your home and garden of synthetic pesticides; use water-efficient fixtures; and cut back on plastics. According to “The Nation,” plastics “clutter the environment, and they’re made from petroleum, a nonrenewable resource,” and many plastics may “also contain toxic bisphenol-a (BPA) and phthalates, which can migrate into food, water and baby formula.”
