Scientists Say U.S. Government is Wasting Money by Further Examining BPA

The “Milwaukee Journal Sentinel” reports 33 scientific experts on bisphenol A (BPA) say the government is wasting millions of dollars by examining the effects of the household chemical that has already been the subject of more than 900 studies. BPA may cause long-term health effects, including cancers of the breast, brain and testicles; lowered sperm counts, early puberty and other reproductive system defects; diabetes; attention deficit disorder, asthma and autism. A 2007 review by the Journal Sentinel found that 80% of the independent studies found BPA caused cell damage or harmful neurological effects.
