Study Finds BPA may Linger in Body Longer than Previously Thought

“Reuters” reports bisphenol A (BPA), a controversial chemical used in many plastic products, may remain in the body longer than previously thought, according to Dr. Richard Stahlhut of the University of Rochester and colleagues, who looked at levels of the chemical in the urine of 1,469 U.S. adults taking part in a government health survey. BPA reportedly leaches from plastic food and beverage containers, including baby bottles. In December, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said it planned more research into the safety of BPA, but the agency indicated no immediate plans to curb the chemical.
