“Fast Company” reports on the continuing controversy surrounding the plastic chemical bisphenol A (BPA), which is found in adhesives, plastic baby bottles, and the linings of food and drink cans. Two recent government reports have come to opposite conclusions about the potential dangers of the chemical, with many blaming the dispute on the battle to protect the multibillion-dollar BPA market from regulation. While the industry maintains the chemical is safe, over 90 percent of more than 100 independently funded experiments on BPA have found evidence of adverse health effects from the chemical at levels similar to human exposure. According to the article, more than 90 percent of Americans have some BPA in their bodies.
