BPA Safety Controversy Calls for Chemical Ban in Plastics for Food Use

According to the “Wall Street Journal,” as questions about the safety of the plastic chemical bisphenol A (BPA) continue to mount, so do calls for a ban on the use of the chemical in plastics that come into contact with food. Some members of the US Congress have reportedly pledged to push harder to ban BPA in the wake of a report that many products labeled “microwave safe,” including containers marketed for infants, leach the chemical when heated.
