“USA Today” recently asked experts how parents can avoid hormone like chemicals, such as bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates, in plastic products intended for children. BPA is found in plastic baby bottles, while phthalates are found in many children’s toys. Plastics labeled PVC-free or marked with the recycling codes #1, #2, or #5, are typically phthalate-free, according to Environment California. Glass bottles are recommended to avoid the chemical BPA.
