Government Brief on BPA Receives Mixed Peer Review

“Environmental Science & Technology” reports a peer review of the U.S. National Toxicoloty Program’s (NTP) draft brief on bisphenol A (BPA) received mixed reviews. The advisory panel recommended that the NTP lower the levels of concern for some human health risks, but also pointed to a missing part of the BPA puzzle—exposure data for those most vulnerable to BPA. The brief’s conclusions reportedly did not include data for people at higher risk—infants and children below the age of 6, and people with liver and gut diseases who cannot metabolize the compound.
