Proposed Bill to Ban BPA Causes Rift Between U.S. and China

According to the “Washington Post,” proposed legislation by Prince George’s a lawmaker to ban the plastic compound bisphenol A (BPA) is allegedly arousing tempers in China. Manufacturers in the United States and China use the compound in baby bottles and other products and the Chinese have reportedly said there is “no specific scientific evidence” proving that products containing BPA are hazardous to children. The lawmaker, Del. James W. Hubbard believes the complaints were prompted by lobbyists for the chemical industry in Washington D.C.
