New Jersey’s “Courier Post” reports with the legislative session coming to a close, health and consumer advocates are urging Legislature to pass bills to protect children from carcinogenic and developmentally stunting toxins. The proposed bill would outlaw phthalates, chemicals used to coat baby food containers, as the chemicals are reportedly linked to penis deformities and the “feminization” of male children. The advocates of the bill also say that other substances, such as bisphenol A (BPA), which is used in baby bottles and food can liners, should be banned.
