Plastic Containers Need Federal Regulation and Better Labeling

According to the “Houston Chronicle,” plastics products that contain chemicals such as phthalates should be federally regulated and better labeled to reflect what is in the products that are used by consumers, especially children. More than 80 percent of chemicals found in household have reportedly never been tested for safety on humans. Phthalates have reportedly been linked to low sperm motility in males and possible reproductive cancers in females, and like another plastic additive called bisphenol A (BPA), are known to mimic hormonal processes in animals and thought by many researchers to act similarly on humans.
