Universities Focus on Producing Fewer Dangerous Chemicals

The Washington Post reports that the Carnegie Mellon University is expanding the field of “green chemistry” in an effort to focus on using and producing fewer dangerous chemicals. According to Terry Collins, director of Carnegie Mellon’s Institute for Green Oxidation Chemistry in Pittsburgh, “We are practicing time-limited technologies that cause all sorts of environmental damage, and are damaging to the species, to our very civilization.”
