Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals Not Listed on Product Labels

According to the USA Today, because there is currently no standard or enforceable definition of a “non-toxic” product, it is difficult for consumers to make “green” choices at the store. Although the FDA requires companies to test the safety of their products, it allegedly does not require companies to study whether products contain chemicals such as endocrine disruptors, which are linked to reproductive and development problems in infants. Some potentially risky chemicals, such as bisphenol A, which is used to line metal cans and add flexibility to plastic polycarbonate baby bottles, are not listed on labels.
