CNN.com reports that plastic is “now viewed by many as the bane of modern life,” as plastic products are littering the sea and filling up landfills, and may additionally be linked to human health issues. According to the article, more and more reports are claiming that bisphenol A (BPA)—a chemical used in the manufacturing of plastic containers such as water bottles, baby bottles, microwave dishes and food containers—may be linked to “female reproductive disorders such as endometriosis, cystic ovaries, fibroids and cancers.” The article further reports that polyethylene terephthalate (PET), “which is in water bottles, plastic bags and food containers, is now suspected to be a human carcinogen.”
