Bottled Water Clogging Landfills

According to the National Geographic’s Green Guide, plastic water bottles are a “convenience” that stuff landfills, clog waterways and guzzle valuable fossil fuels. The article reports that in 2006, Americans spent nearly $11 billion on over 8 billion gallons of bottled water and then “tossed over 22 billion empty plastic bottles in the trash.”
