Julie’s Health Blog (a blog from the Chicago Tribune), reports on a new book, “Baby 411,” which “tells readers to stop using polycarbonate plastic baby bottles, which contain the chemical Bisphenol A.” The blog reports that some clear plastic baby bottles contain bisphenol A, which “breaks down over time, especially with repeated washing or heating of the bottle” and as a result “leaches out of the plastic and ends up in the liquid—that is, the breast milk or formula.” BPA may allegedly be linked to everything from early puberty and breast cancer to attention and developmental problems.
