Environmental exposures to chemicals and autism

Scientists are beginning to take a closer look at the possible relationship between environmental exposure to chemicals and autism, which according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), affects one in 150 children in the United States. Congress could approve funding for autism research, which would provide $945 million over 5 years to take a targeted approach that searches for exposures to pre-selected chemicals, such as the alleged plastics component bisphenol A (BPA) and PCBs.
