“Glass is one of the most sustainable packaging products in the world”

Keeping it organic means doing what is possible to protect yourself, and the environment from harmful chemicals and unnatural substances and making sustainable choices that have a positive impact in today’s society. According to the article “A Clear Solution: Composed of abundant natural materials, glass is one of the most sustainable packaging products in the world,” published in Green@Work magazine, glass packaging is not only trusted by and safe for consumers, but is also the “most environmentally friendly and endlessly recyclable material on earth.” The article points to the fact that while other packaging materials, such as plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, can be “down-cycled,” glass can be recycled again and again, without losing its original quality, clarity and purity. The article further claims that plastic bottles are “rarely recycled” into new plastic bottles. The article calls for North America and other countries around the globe to follow the leadership of Europe, which recovers and sells about 7.9 million tons of recycled glass (out of 12.8 million tons of glass containers sold each year) to bottle manufacturers to use again. An example of a cradle-to-cradle practice at its best.
