Link Between Pre-School puberty and plastics

According to the New York Times Science section, scientists have allegedly known for some time now that estrogen-like chemicals found in plastics manufacturing plants had contaminated sewers in England and caused genetically male fish to develop into females. As it turns out, these same chemicals may allegedly cause similar gender-bending results in children, who developed signs of puberty prematurely. According to the article, similar chemicals may have caused an outbreak of breast enlargement among Italian schoolchildren in 1979.
