According to this article posted on OurStolenFuture.org, the prevalence of allergic reactions has been increasing rapidly in the developed world for several decades now, which leads some scientists to allegedly believe that environmental exposures may be leading to increased allergic responses. According to OurStolenFuture.org, some researchers believe that exposure to low, environmentally-relevant levels of the phthalate DEHP “exacerbates allergic reactions in mice to a dust mite allergen.” The researchers reportedly assert that exposure to DEHP in developing countries, where phthalate exposure is now ubiquitous, may be contributing to the increased incidence of allergic reactions.
