The Yorkshire Today reports on an environmental group’s study that found that traces of toxic chemicals linked to cancer and genetic deformities have been detected in a series of tests on food.

According to the article, “The man-made pollutants were found in every one of 27 food products tested across Europe. Experts at the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which carried out the research, believe the findings could explain why all 352 blood samples provided by people over the last five years as part of a separate study were found to be contaminated with chemicals.”

The researchers found “chemicals in all of the foods ranging from phthalates in olive oil, cheeses and meats, banned organochlorine pesticides in fish and Finnish reindeer meat, artificial musks and organotins in fish, and flame retardants in meats and cheeses.”
