According to this article, San Francisco will be the first city in the nation to “ban the use of certain chemicals in the manufacture of plastic baby bottles, pacifiers and toys on the grounds that they could harm young children.”
Supervisor Fiona Ma recently introduced The Child Safety Product Ordinance, which would prevent the manufacturing, sale or distribution of products that contain bisphenol A for use of children younger of three years of age. According to the article, “Some forms of phthalate, a chemical used to soften plastics, also would be prohibited.”
